On February 8, the third Annual Black Male Summit will unite Black men nationwide for a day of dialogue, mentorship, and empowerment at the Hilton Birmingham Downtown at UAB. It’s part of a year-round initiative that includes monthly programming, community events, and impactful projects. These efforts provide ongoing spaces for mentorship, dialogue, and growth, ensuring a sustained impact on Black families and communities.
The theme for this year’s summit is centered around leadership, economic empowerment, and building a stronger future for Black families. With a roster of accomplished speakers, dynamic panels, and hands-on networking opportunities, attendees will be inspired and equipped with tools to effect meaningful change.

Tackling critical issues such as education, mental wellness, crime reduction, and generational wealth, the summit seeks to uplift Black men while addressing systemic challenges. Among the impactful initiatives supported by the summit is He Talks, He Reads, a literacy program that places free Little Libraries in Black-owned barbershops. By creating accessible reading opportunities, the initiative fosters a culture of literacy and learning in Black communities, reinforcing the summit’s mission to uplift individuals and families.
The 2025 Black Male Summit will host a lineup of speakers including:
- Mayor Randall Woodfin, whose visionary leadership continues to transform Birmingham into a hub for opportunity and growth.
- Troy Dennis, Head of North American Digital Transformation at Mastercard, sharing insights on innovation in corporate leadership.
- Derrick Brooms, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Black Men’s Research Institute at Morehouse College, empowering Black men through education.
- Abdie Mohamed, Lead Cloud Governance Engineer at Lockheed Martin, showcasing leadership in STEM.
- Damion Wright, DEI leader at Intuit, discussing workplace inclusivity and innovation.

Additionally, notable figures like Captain Anthony Dotson, Kham Ward, and Gregory L. Carter will lead discussions on topics from community safety to financial empowerment.
The summit will also include workshops designed to inspire and inform, including:
