Raise a Glass: Perfect Father’s Day Cocktail Recipes

The French Manhattan

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ounces Cognac Camus
  • 1-ounce sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes of Orange Angostura bitters
  • Garnish: brandied cherry (or lemon twist, if preferred)

Steps

  1. Add the sweet vermouth, and bitters into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.
  2. Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora or coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a brandished cherry (or a lemon twist, if preferred).

Bourbon Rosemary Punch

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle rosemary-infused Aperol (750 mL)*
  • 12 ounces bourbon
  • 6 ounces honey syrup
  • 6 ounces grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 bottle of dry sparkling wine (750 mL), to top
  • 1 bottle soda water (750 mL), to top
  • Garnish: 16 grapefruit wheels
  • Garnish: 16 rosemary sprigs

Steps

Serves approximately 16.

  1. Combine the rosemary-infused Aperol, bourbon, honey syrup and grapefruit juice in a punch bowl and add large ice cubes.
  2. Spoon 3 ounces of punch for each serving into a punch glass filled with ice cubes.
  3. Top with a splash of sparkling wine and a splash of soda water.
  4. Garnish with a grapefruit wheel and a rosemary sprig.

*Rosemary-infused Aperol: Place 4 sprigs of rosemary in a 750 mL bottle of Aperol and let sit for 6 hours at room temperature, then strain out

Whiskey Smash

Ingredients

  • 3 lemon wedges
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 4 mint leaves
  • Garnish: mint sprig

Steps

  1. Muddle the lemon wedges in a shaker.
  2. Add bourbon, simple syrup, mint leaves and ice, and shake until well-chilled.
  3. Double-strain into a rock glass over fresh ice.
  4. Garnish with a mint sprig.

Old Pal

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce rye whiskey
  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 1-ounce dry vermouth
  • Garnish: lemon twist

Steps

  1. Add the rye whiskey, Campari, and dry vermouth into a glass of ice and stir until well-chilled.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Summertime

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounce Sazerac rye whiskey
  • 3/4 ounce St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 3/4 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 ounce Fuji apple juice
  • Champagne, chilled, to top (approximately 3/4 ounce)
  • Garnish: apple cubes

Steps

  1. Add the rye whiskey, elderflower liqueur, simple syrup, lemon juice and Fuji apple juice to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
  2. Double-strain into a rock glass filled with fresh ice.
  3. Top with the Champagne.
  4. Garnish with diced apple cubes.
