One annual event that connects, celebrates and empowers Black entrepreneurs, creators and innovators transpired once more.
Black Enterprise’s second annual Disruptor Summit went down two Saturdays ago following two days of inspirational discussions, workshops and fireside chats. The event featured Nick Cannon and Camron, too.
The Summit started with a fireside chat between Cannon and Black Enterprise Director of Multiplatform Content, Selena Hill. The chat centered on Cannon’s unconventional approach to ownership as well as business in the entertainment industry.
Camron also participated in a chat with Black Enterprise Senior Digital Editor, Sidnee Douyon about his business playbook, which included a $20 podcast deal.
Additionally, one of the highlights was a $15K Disruptor Pitch Competition, which gave merging entrepreneurs a stage to showcase all their ventures.
Ending the event was the Disruptor Award presentation, which honored Arian Simone, Founder of the Fearless Fund, 14-year-old Lena Ford, CEO of Positively Lena and Co-Founder of the Kinship Family Initiative, and CEO of the Brand Group Inc. Miss Diddy, who received a standing ovation in response to the announcement that she will “no longer go by the name Miss Diddy, but by my natural born name, Candis Grace.”
What’s the purpose of the summit? According to the website, “It was created to amplify, celebrate, and exchange ideas with change agents who have disrupted their respective industry or market by means of innovation, ingenuity, and/or new technology.”
Those in attendance were expected to receive the tools, access and expertise they need to think outside the box, build million-dollar brands, as well as take their business to the next level.
Black Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Earl “Butch” Graves Jr said he was ready for this event.
“As we gather for the 2nd annual Disruptor Summit, BLACK ENTERPRISE is proud to continue our support and champion the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship within the Black business community,” says Black Enterprise’s Graves Jr. “This summit serves as a pivotal component of our mission and a crucial platform that empowers Black entrepreneurs with the knowledge, connections, and resources needed to thrive in the business world.”
“I’m super excited to be at the BLACK ENTERPRISE Disruptor Summit. I’ve been a disruptor all my life and to be in a room full of disruptors, way makers, change agents, and people who are free thinkers in business and culture is going to be phenomenal,” said Cannon.
