How to Pack For Vacation in 5 Easy Steps

As soon as summer comes around, everyone can't help but dream about their vacation. It is probably one of the most enjoyable moments of one's life. Still, the preparation that comes before you board the plane may be challenging. You have to buy a lot of new stuff, pack and organize your suitcase, etc.

No need to worry though! You are definitely in the right place. Whether you’re heading to the beach for a weekend or flying abroad for an extended vacation, you need to know how to pack smartly.

With the plethora of H&M, PLL or SHEIN discount codes available on the web and five great tips to make your summer packing quick and easy, get ready to enjoy your vacation to the fullest (and look great while you’re at it).

Make a List

Suppose you are the type of person who finds themselves grabbing items at the last minute, shouting at a spouse or kids for not putting the needed items inside the luggage and eventually ending up shopping on vacation for the forgotten items. In that case, you definitely need a packing list!

Take the time, relax, sit down with a cup or glass of something yummy, take a piece of paper, and make a list. If you go on a trip every year, this list will likely contain the same items you take for each vacation, so you better keep it for next time.

You can even make various lists for different types of vacations (skiing, beach, etc.) and file them away, so all you need to do before each trip is pick the items from your list. No need to stress out anymore. From now on, you can simply refer to your list.

The Bigger isn't Always the Better

Whether you're going on a weekend vacation or a month-long trip, you'll enjoy your travel a lot more if you don't have to drag a massive suitcase around. The truth is: the bigger your suitcase, the more you will put into it.

Things won't seem fun when you'll have to run with a 50lb+ suitcase to different airport terminals for a connecting flight or pull heavy luggage to the airport shuttle on your last day of vacation. Moreover, a smaller bag also retains you from buying too many unnecessary souvenirs. So, pack smaller!

Here are some pieces of advice:

  • Buy a hard-sided suitcase, no more than 22 inches tall (so it can work as a carry-on) with a structured shell so you can't squeeze in any extras.

  • Put weightier items on the bottom of your suitcase such as shoes, rolled jeans, and blazers.

  • Put lighter pieces at the top.

  • While packing, ask yourself whether you'll really wear those clothes or not.

  • Pack versatile items that you will definitely wear more than once.

  • Limit yourself to no more than three pairs of shoes overall, including the pair you wear on the plane.

Roll Your Clothes

We should be grateful for whoever came up with this impeccable technique. Rolling your clothes is such a neat trick that allows you to put far more items into your suitcase this way. Rolling your garments has a bunch of advantages:

  • Your clothes will be less creased.

  • It makes it easier to find what you are looking for.

  • It saves you a ton of space in your suitcase.

  • You can use plenty of extra items such as socks, yoga pants, or accessories to fill in air holes.

This approach is best for lighter-weight items such as cotton shirts, khakis, and jeans. Roll each item like sushi and enjoy this exciting process!

Double-Bag Toiletries

When packing toiletries, mind that they are easy to spill. Keep a separate toiletry kit for travelling. Put these items in a small purse or box in the corner of a cabinet or drawer to have easy access when packing for your vacation. Organize everything. To prevent leakage, double up your plastic bag.

What is more, make sure cosmetics are on the top of your packed suitcase for easy access as you go through security. To protect undergarments from damage, place them in a lingerie bag.

Keep Essentials in Your Shoulder Bag

Keeping your bag with you while traveling is one of the benefits of flying with a carry-on. Nothing can be worse than having to constantly stand up, open the overhead compartment, pull down your bag, take something out, and put the bag back in its place.

Instead of cramming all possible items into your luggage, use a mesh pouch inside of your shoulder bag to keep all the things you might need during the flight, such as earphones, phone chargers, snacks, medications, vitamins, Passport, wallet, travel-size toiletries, playing cards, whatever. This way, you'll have easy access to everything that you might need.

Traveling can be a life-altering experience that forms memories lasting a lifetime. But before experiencing all the magic of the cities around the world, you have to pack.

Knowing how to pack your suitcase the right way can certainly make the difference, reducing stress and saving you lots of money in the long run. Using these five easy tips will make the packing process much easier. You will be surprised by how many items you can fit in your suitcase.

Packing requires flexibility and fortitude, but once you go abroad with a lightweight and organised suitcase, you will fall in love with the freedom so much that you'll ditch your stuffed heavy suitcases for good. Safe travels!
