Anthony Anderson Receives BFA Degree From Howard University

Black-ish star Anthony Anderson is now a college graduate. The Emmy nominated, NAACP Image Award-winning actor received a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree from Howard University’s Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts over the weekend. The college was named in honor of late actor Chadwick Boseman who passed away in 2020 and was a Howard University alum. Anderson celebrated his achievement by sharing posts from the ceremony on his Instagram.

In one of the photos posted, Anderson is wearing a graduation cap and gown and is seen standing alongside commencement speaker Taraji P. Henson, college dean Phylicia Rashad, and others. Anderson wrote, “To quote Biggie, 'IT WAS ALL A DREAM!'" “Words can't begin to describe the emotional roller coaster I'm on right now. It's literally been 30 years in the making. This spring I was finally able to complete the work to graduate from Howard University with a BFA degree from the Chadwick A Boseman College of Fine Arts!" he added.

Anderson had begun his college studies at Howard decades ago, however, he was forced to drop out due to financial struggles."Yesterday was a full circle moment. It's never too late! Things happen when they're supposed to happen!" Anderson said. He also thanked his son, Nathan, for inspiring him to earn his degree after he was also accepted into the university a few years ago.

In another video from the graduation ceremony, Anderson shared university president Wayne A.I. Frederick shouting him out in a speech in which he commented, "When the president of the university shouts you out from the stage because he knows how big this moment is for you! Thank you Dr Wayne A I Fredrick! I could not have done this without you!"

The award winning actor’s latest achievement comes just weeks after his hit series Black-ish concluded its eight season run on primetime television on the ABC network.

Congratulations to Anthony Anderson on this achievement.
