In life, we possess many goals and aspirations. Sometimes, we feel as if we’re not doing enough, or we feel that all we need is a little help. Hence the reason we have many organizations in our schools and communities. Organizations are clubs that are supposed to enrich the lives of men and women all over the world. Whether it’s academic, civic, or community-based, they serve extremely important purposes.

YBM Leadership Alliance

The YBM Leadership Alliance is a college preparation and leadership development program for young black men. The organization is focused on promoting positive images of black men and creating a new reality where young men are sought out as leaders.

100 Black Men of America

100 Black Men of America is a men’s civic organization and service club. Their purpose is to educate and empower black men, children, and teens. The organization has 110 chapters and more than 10,000 members across the United States and throughout the world. 100 Black Men of America’s mission statement is “to improve the quality of life within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all African Americans.” Their motto is “real men giving real-time” and “what they see is what they’ll be.”

Fraternal Organizations (National Pan-Hellenic council “divine nine”)

Since the early 1900s African American’s have sought out independence and freedom. When they got the chance to create something of their own, it was a breath of fresh air. In comes Fraternities and sororities. The values of these organizations are all about education, service, merit, and brotherhood. As a fraternal man myself, I know all about the enrichment and value it adds to my life. Many men look at fraternities as life-saving organizations and a way to uplift and push them to higher abilities.

Concerned Black Men of America

CBM is an organization that conducts programs and projects to support youth and strengthen their families. This is a male services organization that proudly believes in its grassroots heritage. CBM was founded in 1975 when some Philadelphia police officers sponsored events for kids at-risk of gang violence. The vision of CBM has expanded to include children and their parents nationwide. However, the philosophy of men offering themselves as positive role models to children has remained CBM’s mission. National Urban League

The National Urban League works to provide economic empowerment, educational opportunities, and the guarantee of civil rights for the underserved in America. We all realize that urban communities and especially black men have been underserved for many years. This is one of the main reasons the Urban League exists. Not only does this organization help black men succeed, but like other community organizations, it gives African Americans a chance to involve themselves and enrich their lives. We are all here to be of service to one another, so why not start with an organization like the Urban League.

National Association of Black & White Men Together

The NABWMT is a gay, multiracial, multicultural organization committed to fostering supportive environments wherein racial and cultural barriers can be overcome and the goal of human equality is present. The organization engages in educational, political, cultural, and social activities to foster dealing with racism, sexism, homophobia, HIV/AIDS discrimination, and other problems in our communities and in our lives. This organization helps black men to succeed at not discriminating against others. Let’s be clear, we are here for equality and for the betterment of everyone in this world. This organization stands true to that cause.
