A Florida community is reeling from an unimaginable tragedy after a mother and her young daughter were fatally struck by lightning during a sudden thunderstorm over the weekend. Now, a grieving father is left trying to process how his family was torn apart in a matter of seconds.
On Sunday afternoon in Margate, Florida, Cameron Glasgow and his family were arriving at a relative’s house for a family dinner. As the weather quickly turned dangerous and the rain intensified, Cameron and his wife, 31-year-old Kenya Glasgow, made the routine decision to hustle their two-year-old twin daughters, Kennedy and Kinsley, indoors.
“We saw that the rain was picking up, and we just said, ‘Hey, we got to get the girls inside,’” Cameron recalled in a heart-wrenching interview. “So just a simple thing that anybody would do. Hey, put a blanket on their head, let’s just get inside.”

Tragically, they never made it to the door. Lightning struck, hitting Kenya and little Kennedy. Both mother and daughter were later pronounced dead at local hospitals, while the other twin, Kinsley, miraculously survived.
Speaking through his grief on Monday morning, Cameron honored the two brightest lights in his life. He described his wife Kenya as an amazing person who always put others first.
“My wife, the biggest heart in the world. Puts everybody before herself,” Cameron shared, adding that she was his hero. “I wanted to show people how my wife does. She helped make me into the man that I am today.”
He also remembered his daughter Kennedy’s infectious spirit, noting that the lively two-year-old could already sing every word to her favorite Benson Boone songs.
As Cameron faces the devastating reality of losing his partner of many years and his young daughter, his immediate focus has shifted to being a pillar of strength for Kinsley, who now has to grow up without her mother and her twin sister.
“It’s going to crush my heart when she starts looking for her sister and her mom,” Cameron admitted. “It’s going to be tough. To lose somebody that I’ve been with for half my life, it’s going to be tough. But I’ll be okay because I have to be, because I have another beautiful daughter… But for her to lose her twin sister, words can’t describe that feeling.”
