It looks like the Power Rangers won’t be morphing onto Disney+ after all. The streamer has officially scrapped its planned live-action Power Rangers series, bringing an end to the project’s development at the platform.

The decision marks another shift in direction for the iconic franchise, leaving fans wondering where the Teenagers with Attitude will land next.

The project, originally envisioned as a fresh, reimagined take on the beloved 1990s pop-culture staple, had been in active development with Hasbro’s Entertainment One. The goal was to build an interconnected universe spanning television and film, aimed at capturing both nostalgic adult fans and a new generation of viewers.

However, as major streaming platforms continue to re-evaluate their content strategies, prioritize profitability, and tighten budget spend, the ambitious live-action reboot ultimately landed on the chopping block. While Disney+ has opted not to move forward, reports suggest that Hasbro is actively exploring new creative avenues and alternative homes for the franchise.

Since debuting in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the franchise has been a global powerhouse in children’s television, merchandising, and pop culture, spawning dozens of television seasons, multiple feature films, comic book series, and an iconic line of toys.

Disney previously owned the franchise from 2001 to 2010, producing fan-favorite seasons like Power Rangers Dino Thunder and Power Rangers S.P.D. before selling the rights back to creator Haim Saban. Hasbro later acquired the property in 2018.

While this specific live-action iteration at Disney+ won’t see the light of day, the Power Rangers brand remains one of the most recognizable superhero IPs in entertainment, meaning it’s likely only a matter of time before the franchise finds its next grid to connect with.
