The missing piece of Frederick Richard’s trophy collection is officially in his possession. At the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Phoenix, the 22-year-old Olympic medalist brought home his first senior U.S. national all-around title.

Competing inside the Mortgage Matchup Center, Richard posted a two-day total score of 170.015, finishing more than two points clear of runner-up Shane Wiskus (167.964) and third-place finisher Danila Leykin (167.001). In addition to the all-around crown, Richard also captured the national floor exercise title with a combined score of 28.916.

While Richard entered the competition with an Olympic team bronze medal from the Paris 2024 Games, a World Championship individual bronze, and three NCAA all-around titles with the University of Michigan, the senior national all-around title had eluded him across four previous attempts.

“I strived my whole life to get here, it took 20 years, four championships later as a senior, but we’re here,” Richard told NBC Sports following his win. “It shows the hard work is paying off.”

Despite overcoming minor rule deductions during competition, Richard’s high-difficulty routines and steady execution kept him atop the leaderboard from start to finish.

The victory cements Richard as a central figure in American men’s gymnastics as the national team prepares for the 2026 World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and builds momentum toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Following the meet, USA Gymnastics named Richard to head the U.S. World Championships squad alongside Wiskus, Leykin, Yul Moldauer, and Asher Cohen.
