Paradise earned a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series, and Sterling K. Brown came right along with it, landing a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work on the Hulu series. Brown is no stranger to this moment; he became the first Black man to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in nearly two decades when he took home the award for This Is Us in 2017, and his nomination here is a reminder that he remains one of the most compelling dramatic performers working in television today.
Paradise joins a competitive drama field that includes The Diplomat, The Gilded Age, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Pitt, Pluribus, Slow Horses, and Your Friends & Neighbors.
Abbott Elementary is back in the Outstanding Comedy Series conversation. Creator and star Quinta Brunson has built something that the industry keeps recognizing, and this nomination proves the show has not lost a step. It competes this year against The Bear, Hacks, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, and Widow’s Bay.
