Prime Video has officially renewed its hit adult animated series Invincible for a sixth season. The early renewal has been locked in well ahead of the series’ highly anticipated Season 5 premiere, which is slated to debut in early 2027.

This pre-emptive greenlight solidifies the show’s status as a crown jewel of Amazon’s streaming empire, ensuring that Skybound Entertainment and creator Robert Kirkman will have the runway they need to continue adapting the beloved, sprawling comic book saga.

When Kirkman (The Walking Dead) first brought his comic book series to Prime Video in 2021, he made it clear that he had a long-term roadmap in mind. Kirkman has frequently noted in interviews that it would take roughly seven to eight seasons to properly adapt the entire 144-issue run of Mark Grayson’s journey without rushing the character development.

By locking in Season 6 before a single frame of Season 5 has even aired, Prime Video is signaling absolute, long-term trust in that creative vision.

The series follows Mark Grayson (voiced brilliantly by Steven Yeun), a seemingly normal teenager whose world is turned upside down when he inherits superpowers from his father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), the planet’s most powerful protector, who hides a dark, imperialistic secret. Season by season, the narrative has evolved from a subversion of classic superhero tropes into a massive, intergalactic war for survival.

A massive component of Invincible’s staying power is its star-studded voice cast, which reads like a Hollywood red carpet. Alongside Yeun and Simmons, the show features talents of Sterling K. Brown, Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, Grey DeLisle, and Walton Goggins.

While an official release window for Season 6 is still tightly under wraps, development is already underway.
