Netflix has dropped the first trailer for the third and final season of Survival of the Thickest, Michelle Buteau’s acclaimed comedy series, and the farewell season is stacked.
The final season brings a roster of heavyweight guest stars into Mavis’s world: D.L. Hughley, Ice-T, and Wanda Sykes all join the cast for the concluding chapter, alongside fashion figures Ashley Graham, Jenna Lyons, LaQuan Smith, and Charles Harbison.
Season 3 picks up where Season 2 left off. Mavis, New York City’s most determined plus-size stylist, ended the last season in a pivotal moment, putting herself and her career on the line by championing size-inclusive fashion in a very public, very messy way.
Season 3 gives her the chance to start afresh, carrying the full weight of everything she has learned and lost and gained along the way.
The core cast returns: Buteau as Mavis, Tone Bell as Khalil, Marouane Zotti now as a series regular, Liza Treyger, Peppermint, Garcelle Beauvais, and RonReaco Lee.
The show was co-created by Buteau and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, with Amy Aniobi serving as showrunner for the final season.
Buteau and Sanchez-Witzel will each make their directorial debuts, Buteau directing Episode 5 and Sanchez-Witzel directing Episode 3.
Survival of the Thickest Season 3 premieres on July 2 on Netflix.
