Ron Taylor walked into the United Theater in Los Angeles as a finalist. He walked out as a champion, and with his own Netflix Comedy Special in his pocket. Taylor was crowned the winner of Funny AF with Kevin Hart following a massive global fan vote that closed out one of the most competitive and electric comedy competition finales in recent memory.
The win is a career-defining launchpad: Taylor will headline his own Netflix Comedy Special, a platform that has turned stand-up sets into cultural events and launched comedians from relative unknowns to household names overnight.
Taylor will also appear as a special guest at The Roast of Kevin Hart, airing live on Netflix on Sunday, May 10th, putting him on one of the biggest comedy stages in the world just days after the win.
The finale brought together the Top 4 finalists for one final night of competition. Taylor shared the stage with Caitlin Peluffo, Usama Siddiquee, and Reg Thomas, a group that collectively delivered some of the sharpest and most original comedy the competition has produced.
Nikki Glaser and Tom Segura returned alongside Kevin Hart to close out the competition, providing feedback, energy, and final words of wisdom to each finalist before the votes were tallied.
Previous season contestants were also in attendance, turning the night into a full celebration of what Funny AF has built, a community of comedians who came up together, competed hard, and are now watching one of their own step into the spotlight.
A Netflix Comedy Special is not just an opportunity. For a comedian at this stage of their career, it is the difference between being known in certain rooms and being known everywhere.
Netflix has a global reach that no other platform can match in the comedy space, and the comedians who have used it well, Dave Chappelle, Mo Amer, Wanda Sykes, Nate Bargatz, have come out the other side with careers at a different altitude.
Taylor has earned his shot. The fan vote, a global one, means that the people who watched this competition across the entire season made a deliberate choice. They did not just watch Ron Taylor perform. They invested in him. That kind of organic support is exactly what a comedian needs walking into a Netflix taping.
The Roast of Kevin Hart on May 10th will be the first major national stage Taylor stands on post-win.
