It really is so hard to say goodbye! Fans of the hit drama series The Chi are gearing up for an emotional farewell as Paramount+ has officially unveiled an exclusive first look at the show’s eighth and final season.
As the series prepares to take a bow, it leaves behind an undeniable legacy. The Chi stands as Paramount+ with Showtime’s most-streamed, longest-running Black drama, concluding with this upcoming eighth season.
Its popularity has only continued to grow over the years; in fact, as of July 2025, the seventh season’s premiere brought in over 2 million cross-platform viewers. This massive achievement marked the most-streamed premiere in the series’ entire history, proving the show is going out on top.

Production for this highly anticipated final chapter kicked off in January, setting the stage for what promises to be a monumental conclusion. As The Chi heads into its final stretch, the stakes have never been higher. According to the network, this season brings the show’s “coldest winter ever,” forcing characters to make ultimate life-or-death choices.
The central question looming over the characters is: who is actually willing to make those tough calls? Fans can expect a massive collision of legacy, conflict, joy, and pain, culminating in what is being described as the biggest and most emotionally riveting season yet.
The final season stars Jacob Latimore, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Hannaha Hall, and Jason Weaver.

The Chi was created and is executive-produced by Emmy winner Lena Waithe under her Hillman Grad banner. Guiding the ship are co-showrunners and executive producers Justin Hillian and Jewel Coronel.
Additionally, Deondray Gossfield and Quincy LeNear Gossfield are returning to direct multiple episodes and have been elevated to Co-Executive Producers for the final run.
