The Bellaire empire is officially under new management, but if the latest trailer for Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black is any indication, holding onto that power is going to be a lot deadlier than getting it.
Netflix just dropped the explosive new trailer for Season 2, Part 2 of the hit drama, giving fans a glimpse into the ruthless, backstabbing world that awaits when the series returns globally on March 19.
After Kimmie’s (Taylor Polidore Williams) meteoric rise from an unassuming sex worker to the sole owner of the Bellaire family business, she’s no longer just trying to prove she belongs; she is claiming her place and learning the true cost of power. Meanwhile, Mallory (Crystle Stewart) is stepping into a much more strategic and calculating version of herself as she navigates an increasingly dangerous relationship with Roy.
However, the boardroom rivalry between Kimmie and Mallory might have to take a back seat. The trailer introduces a fierce new villain, Gina (played by Jasmine Burke), who immediately puts the entire Bellaire circle on edge. As dark secrets come to light, alliances shatter, and the illusion of control disappears, survival quickly becomes the ultimate priority for both women.
Of course, you can’t talk about Beauty in Black without mentioning the man handling the family’s dirty work: Officer Trackson.
Played brilliantly by Detroit-born actor George Middlebrook, Officer Trackson has quickly become the character fans love to hate. We recently sat down with Middlebrook for an exclusive interview with The Quintessential Gentleman, and he was completely transparent about the visceral fan reactions to his character.
“Nobody likes me,” Middlebrook laughed during our sit-down. “My dad was like, ‘You’re terrible. You ain’t good for sh*t.’ But it’s fun though. I know if they don’t like me, I’m doing my job well.”
Despite the on-screen villainy, the real-life Middlebrook is soaking in every moment of the show’s record-breaking success. After grinding in the industry for years, and being personally cast by Tyler Perry after a serendipitous encounter on another set, the actor is savoring his well-deserved breakout moment.
“I truly feel like a dream. It is a dream, so it feels like I’m asleep, like somebody comes and pinches [me],” Middlebrook shared. “It’s amazing to be a part of the show that goes number one every time we drop… Two billion views. It’s amazing, man.”
And for those wondering if Officer Trackson will be heavily involved in the impending chaos, Middlebrook offered a reassuring tease. “I’m in every episode in part two, thank God,” he revealed. “We will go number one again, hopefully this time the numbers double.”
With a new villain in town, loyalties being tested, and a cast ready to bring the heat, March 19 can’t come fast enough.
