Chicago’s social scene was hot this week as stars gathered for an unforgettable evening hosted by Barack and Michelle Obama, not at the White House, but under the banner of their production company, Higher Ground Media.
The former president and first lady pulled out all the stops for the event, which showcased the influence of Higher Ground’s storytelling mission and drew a constellation of Hollywood talent.
Among the attendees were Gabrielle Union and her husband, former NBA star Dwyane Wade, along with Emmy-winning actor Sterling K. Brown and his wife, actress Ryan Michelle Bathe.
Union captured the night’s energy on Instagram, sharing images on Instagram with the caption, “Our kind of night.”
The event wasn’t just a social gathering; it was a testament to the cultural clout of Higher Ground Media, the Obamas’ production house designed to elevate diverse voices across film, television, and podcasts. Since its founding in 2018, Higher Ground has backed award-winning documentaries and high-profile projects that spotlight nuanced storytelling and underrepresented perspectives.
