Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Christian Wood finds himself at the center of a frightening incident in Sherman Oaks: a midday home invasion attempt that ended with Wood firing shots to deter alleged intruders.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the event unfolded around 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the 14800 block of Otsego Street. Neighbors reported hearing a crashing sound at the rear of the residence, and officers say three men were seen attempting to enter the home through a back door.
Wood, who was inside the property at the time, reportedly confronted the would‑be burglars and fired three to four rounds into the ground, prompting the suspects to flee the scene in what was described as a grey Jeep Grand Cherokee.
No shots were reported to have hit anyone, and, notably, no property was taken from the home.
The incident sent a ripple of concern through the otherwise quiet Sherman Oaks neighborhood. Neighbors told news outlets they felt shaken by the daytime nature of the attempted break‑in; many said they had grown complacent in a seemingly safe residential zone.
Police are still investigating and say no arrests have yet been made. Officers were seen combing the property’s front yard for evidence soon after the incident was reported.
