Los Angeles Rams rookie pass rusher Jared Verse had plenty to say following his team’s recent matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. And while he didn’t shy away from admitting the Rams left plays on the table, he made one thing very clear: disrespecting Jalen Hurts needs to stop.

Verse, who notched his first sack of the season last week, spoke candidly about the game’s turning points.

“We came out hot, forced a turnover, was able to capitalize off that,” he said. “But offense has to be better, defense has to be better, our special teams have to be better. We’re not working all as one. Nobody’s doing anything right. That’s what’s gonna happen. We had that game in the bag. We lost that ourselves. Can’t give credit to nobody else.”

But when the conversation turned toward the Eagles’ quarterback, Verse drew a line in the sand.

“A lot of people go like, ‘Oh, he can’t throw. He’s only a runner,’” Verse said. “He’s a f*****g quarterback for the National Football League for a reason. I don’t know why people be saying that.”

Hurts has often been criticized as more of a rushing threat than a passing one, but Verse’s has respect for the Eagles QB.

He pointed to Philadelphia’s physical offensive line and the way Hurts commands the game. “They’ve only given up two sacks…You gotta be respectful of their whole O-line—they got dogs all across their O-line. You gotta know where the advantages are and where the good matchups are,” he added.

For Verse, it wasn’t just about giving credit to an opponent. It was about acknowledging the reality of what Hurts brings to the table every Sunday. “He is who he should have been coming out. This is exactly how he is,” Verse said.
