The first full trailer for DC Studios’ Superman has dropped, giving us a first look at James Gunn’s highly anticipated superhero franchise reboot.
Among the surprises in the trailer is Edi Gathegi’s debut as Mr. Terrific, showing a glimpse of the character’s superpowers in action.
Superman, written and directed by Gunn, will hit theaters in July 2025. The film introduces David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. Unlike previous iterations, this Superman exists in a world already teeming with superheroes. including Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).

Michael Holt, aka Mr. Terrific, is a genius-level intellect and a former Olympic athlete turned superhero. His powers come not from superhuman abilities but from his mind and advanced technology.
In the trailer, Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific is seen using his signature “T-Spheres.” These versatile devices emit forcefields, project holograms, hack into systems, and generate energy blasts. Mr. Terrific’s mask is a communication system that allows him to detect various energy forms.
Gathegi isn’t new to our screen as he can be remembered for his performances in Netflix’s The Harder They Fall, the TV series Startup. Also, this isn’t his first time playing characters with powers. Gathegi portrayed Darwin in X-Men: First Class as a mutant whose body can adapt to survive any environment or situation. He also took on the role of Laurent, a vampire, in Twilight and New Moon.
