Michael B. Jordan just reached a new milestone in his already powerful career: his first-ever nomination at the Actor Awards, formerly the Screen Actors Guild Awards, for his leading performance in Sinners. And while Jordan has received recognition from audiences and critics for years, this one hits different.

Why? Because this nomination comes from actors, for actors, chosen exclusively by the peers who understand the craft most deeply.

Announced on Wednesday morning, the 32nd Actor Awards nominations arrived with a clear statement about artistic excellence. Newly elected SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin opened the presentation by reminding viewers that the Actor Awards stand apart because they are grounded in respect for the work, not industry politics, not hype. Just performance.

And Sinners delivered.

The film didn’t just show up in the nominations; it overperformed. Alongside Jordan’s nomination for Actor in a Lead Role, the project also earned recognition for Wunmi Mosaku in the Supporting Actress category and newcomer Miles Caton for Supporting Actor.

Jordan’s nomination places him in formidable company this year, joining a group of performers that includes Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, and Jesse Plemons for Bugonia.

The Actor Awards stream on Netflix live on March 1.
