Sen. Cory Booker has officially tied the knot — twice.
The New Jersey senator and former presidential candidate married his fiancée, Alexis Lewis, in two intimate ceremonies held in the places that mean the most to them: Newark, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. Booker shared the news on Instagram Sunday, calling the experience one filled with gratitude and intention.
“Overflowing with gratitude. We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us—Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C.—first at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful,” the couple wrote in a joint post. Alexis has since updated her name on Instagram to Alexis Lewis Booker.
Booker first announced his engagement in September, publicly describing Alexis as “one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life.”
Known for being one of the Senate’s most eligible bachelors for years, Booker opened up about how Lewis transformed his everyday life.
He shared at the time that Alexis “helped me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love.”
In another post reflecting on their engagement, he added:
“I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée. We are excited for this journey ahead… feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us.”
According to People magazine, Alexis Lewis Booker is a 38-year-old director at a real estate investment firm. While she largely maintains a private life, the couple’s posts highlight a grounded, intentional partnership built on mutual support and shared values.
The couple opted for a two-part celebration, beginning with a courthouse ceremony in Newark to honor the city Booker has represented and championed for decades, followed by a family ceremony in Washington, D.C., Lewis’s hometown.
Congratulations to the couple!
