Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black has been officially renewed for a second season on Netflix, following the show’s Part 2 finale that left fans on the edge of their seats. The drama, which dives deep into the lives of the wealthy and powerful Bellarie family, ended its first season with a jaw-dropping twist: Chicago club dancer Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) is now the new matriarch of the Beauty in Black empire.
The finale of Beauty in Black delivered one of the most unexpected power moves yet—Horace Bellarie (Ricco Ross) married Kimmie, leaving his inheritance and control of the Bellarie empire in her hands. With his final breath, Horace declared from his hospital bed:
“Sons, this is your new stepmother. Oh yes—and she’s also your new boss.”

This revelation left his entitled heirs, Roy (Julian Horton) and Charles (Steven G. Norfleet), in complete shock, while other family members—beauty mogul daughter-in-law Mallory (Crystle Stewart), ex-wife Olivia (Debbi Morgan), and brother Norman (Richard Lawson)—were left fuming. Not to mention, Bellarie head of security Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield), Kimmie’s former boss, was blindsided by the power shift.
According to series creator Tyler Perry, Season 2 will delve deeper into Kimmie’s rise to power and the fallout of her unexpected marriage to Horace.
“We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellarie family,” Perry told Netflix’s Tudum. “Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, you’re not ready for Season 2.”
Like Season 1, Beauty in Black Season 2 will be released in two parts. An official premiere date has not yet been announced.
