Prime Video has released a first look at its upcoming comedy series Clean Slate, which will premiere with all eight episodes on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
The series stars legendary comedian George Wallace and four-time Emmy-nominated actress Laverne Cox in a family story that blends humor, unconditional love, and acceptance.
In Clean Slate, Wallace takes on the role of Harry, a traditional, old-school car wash owner in Alabama whose world is turned upside down when his estranged child returns home after 17 years—not as the son he remembers, but as Desiree (Cox), a proud trans woman. The series follows their journey as they navigate a second chance at building their relationship.
“After being away for 23 years and, she says in the pilot, being in really dysfunctional relationships with men, she realizes that she has to go back to the source of the first unavailable man in her life, and that’s her father,” Cox tells Entertainment Weekly.
Created by Cox, Wallace, and Dan Ewen (Dear Santa, Playing with Fire), Clean Slate is infused with the signature boundary-pushing comedic style of the late producer Norman Lear (The Jeffersons, Good Times, Sanford and Son), who also served as an executive producer.
The cast also includes Telma Hopkins, D.K. Uzoukwu, Jay Wilkison, and Norah Murphy.
