Scott Mills, CEO of BET, recently hinted at the return of the iconic music show 106 & Park during an interview on The Breakfast Club.
While the traditional format of the show may no longer align with today’s viewing habits, Mills emphasized that 106 & Park remains a vital part of BET’s legacy and will be reimagined to resonate with modern audiences.
“One of the things that we focus on is, we understand people love 106 & Park,” Mills said. “So the fact that it doesn’t work as a linear television show doesn’t mean 106 & Park is over.”
Mills revealed that BET is exploring innovative ways to revive the beloved brand, potentially as a podcast or a digital experience.

How people consume media has changed so this evolution aligns with shifting media consumption habits, particularly among younger audiences who engage more with digital platforms and on-demand content.
“We are evolving what 106 & Park will look like in 2025 because it does have that very important role,” Mills explained. “We’ve got a number of really exciting executions.”
The announcement comes as BET prepares to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show, which first premiered in September 2000. Over the years, 106 & Park became a cultural cornerstone, with A.J. Calloway and Marie “Free” Wright at the helm, giving us a platform for the hottest music videos, artist interviews, and iconic moments that defined Hip-Hop and R&B.
Mills acknowledged the importance of maintaining the essence of 106 & Park while adapting to the future. By leveraging the show’s rich history and cultural impact, BET wants to create a version that not only honors its past but also speaks to a new generation of fans.
