The third and final season of Prime Video’s hit series, Harlem, premieres tomorrow.
Ahead of the new season, Tyler Lepley, who plays Ian, talks about soul ties and whether exes can truly stay friends. In our interview, Lepley discusses his character’s complex dynamic with Camille, played by Meagan Good, while also giving his personal perspective on relationships and baggage.
When asked whether he believes in the concept of soul ties, Lepley didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, I do believe in that,” he said.
Lepley explained how this notion is real and can be seen throughout the seasons of Harlem. Ian and Camille, despite their crazy history, seem unable to truly let each other go. “No matter how much he tries to shake Camille, no matter how much of a mess he makes, she’s got a hold of him,” Lepley said. “She really got the keys to his heart—or it’s tied to his soul, if you will, for sure.”
If you’ve followed their relationship from the beginning, you know that Ian and Camille’s journey has been nothing but emotional and chaotic. Their on-again, off-again relationship is relatable for many and reflects the universal struggle of navigating unfinished business with someone who has left a mark on your life.
Lepley also addressed the age-old question: Can exes truly be friends? His answer was refreshingly candid.
“Hell no,” Lepley laughed. “I don’t know. I mean, you know what, I feel like as we get older, we mature. There may be scenarios where you cross paths—nobody says you gotta be beefing with each other. You can be cordial.”
However, the actor did offer some advice for those carrying baggage. “I feel like it’s best if you can wrap things up before you start anything and if you’re not wrapped up don’t start nothing new,” he shares.
Interestingly enough, Lepley’s character hasn’t taken that advice, as he struggles with his relationship with Camille. Despite his attempts to move on, Ian finds himself repeatedly drawn back to Camille, showing how difficult it can be to fully detach from someone who was once such a significant part of your life.
As Harlem returns, fans can expect to see more of Ian and Camille’s soul-tied connection. Season 3 will continue to explore whether their bond is a source of growth or continued heartache.
