It’s almost 2025; isn’t it surprising that there are still companies being launched as the ‘First Black-owned’ in their industries? Meet Gregory Lowe II, the founder of 100 Coconuts, the first Black-owned coconut water brand.

Launched in 2018, his journey was inspired by a personal experience during his wife’s pregnancy. Her doctor recommended pure coconut water to support hydration and lactation. “At this moment, Greg knew that even if it didn’t exist yet, he had to create the best-tasting coconut water—it was doctor’s orders. While traveling through Vietnam, Greg discovered a young coconut that was sweeter than those he was used to. The rest, as they say, is history,” the website states.

100 Coconuts prides itself on authenticity and sustainability. The brand sources its coconuts from Vietnam, known for their naturally sweeter taste, and packages the water in eco-friendly cans for recyclability.

Coconut water is a natural hydration powerhouse, packed with electrolytes like potassium, sodium, and magnesium, which help maintain fluid balance and support overall hydration. It is low in calories, making it a good alternative to sugary drinks while providing sustained energy.

Rich in antioxidants, coconut water can enhance immune health by helping the body combat harmful toxins and bacteria. Its natural composition also promotes glowing skin, as the hydration and nutrients work from within to maintain a healthy complexion.
