Pull Up a Chair For Season Two Of 'We Playin' Spades' with Nick Cannon And Courtney Bee
For all the Spades players and those who don't know how to play (we're not gonna shame you), it's time for you to pull up.
The second season of We Playin' Spades, hosted by Nick Cannon and Courtney Bee, has already released two episodes. You can catch them on YouTube and wherever you listen to podcasts.
Cannon and Bee share a comedic energy that can throw you off your game if you're not fully engaged. However, We Playin' Spades is more than just a favorite card game among Black people. According to Cannon, in an interview with The Quintessential Gentleman, the show is about "having fun and connecting people to the culture," emphasizing that it's not just about the cards—it's about the stories shared around the table.
What sets We Playin' Spades apart is its ability to humanize celebrities. Guests are encouraged to let their guard down and engage in genuine dialogues, sharing laughs and personal anecdotes.
"It’s about the laughter and the unexpected moments that make this show a standout," Courtney Bee says.
The relaxed backyard setting of the show allows viewers to see a different side of their favorite personalities. "You get to see people in their rare form," explains Cannon.
In the new season's first episode, Tiffany Haddish is the special guest alongside her Spades partner, Dionne. Haddish entertains with stories ranging from her comedy Mt. Rushmore to a dream she had involving Stevie Wonder.
The new season features guests like Kirk Franklin, who, despite being a newbie to Spades, starred in what both hosts consider one of their best episodes yet.
Both Cannon and Bee recognize the educational potential of their show, offering lessons on how to play Spades. "We're here to teach," shares Cannon. By simplifying the game, such as removing all the jokers, they aim to inspire people to pick up a deck of cards without hesitation.
Now, when someone asks you to teach them how to play Spades, you can direct them to We Playin' Spades. From the aerial view of the cards being played to the hosts assisting guests who have never played before, viewers can gain a basic understanding of how to play the game.
Spades isn't the only game played on the show. "We Playin' Spades" includes various segments like "Joker's Wild," where, according to Bee, things can get "wild and nasty." This adds layers of entertainment beyond traditional game shows, enhancing the viewer's experience.
