Sea Salt Lounge Brings Quality Food, a Comfortable Atmosphere and Community to Virginia Highlands

Atlanta is the place where culture and great food are curated right? Owned and operated by Juan Farmer and Chris Berry, two Black men who understand what a memorable experience food can be, Sea Salt Seafood Lounge has been positioned as a worthy opponent of great food and culture in the not-so-diverse Virginia Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta thanks to the owners and Head Chef Frank Judkins.

Although the environment isn't geared toward a specific community, they pride itself on being a comfortable environment for everyone to enjoy. This vibrant Black-owned seafood casual restaurant focuses on providing high-quality and flavorful seafood along with carefully curated cocktails and ATL's must-have hookah.

Farmer brings to the table a nightlife promoter's background, Berry has owned and operated restaurants and lounges for years and Chef Frank has been delighting taste buds for over twenty years. With this diverse combination of expertise, the lounge recently celebrated its one-year anniversary alongside some lounge regulars and many new customers with no signs of slowing down.

When creating a new concept, it isn't always easy to get people on board, but once you do, you know you have done something right. "Consistency is very important because, without it, there is no comeback. People want to get the same taste and experience every time. You have to stay true to the measurements in order for the product to be consistent every time," says Farmer.

Sea Salt lounge has established itself in the community and is making an effort to reach back to the community by launching Sea Salt Cares, an initiative that focuses on inclusivity for the underserved community in the Atlanta restaurant industry. Their monthly event's mission is to teach life lessons and give back through food and fellowship with the goal of feeding the community's bellies, hearts and minds. Guests of the event get to enjoy dinner from Sea Salt Seafood Lounge and hear from community leaders and celebrities on various social issues and topics, including domestic violence, mental health, conflict resolution, education and so much more.
