Jay-Z used the final night of his JAY-Z30 run at SoFi Stadium to answer online critics who claimed his Los Angeles shows were empty, telling fans to trust their own eyes and ears and to question what they see online in an era of artificial intelligence.

The comments came on the second of two shows at the Inglewood, California, stadium, which took place on October 23 and 24. The run celebrates the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt.

“People will tell you that nobody was in here tonight, but you got eyes,” Jay-Z told the crowd. “People will tell you that the music wasn’t great, but you got ears.”

The Claims He Was Answering

Ahead of the shows, social media posts suggested plenty of seats were still available, with screenshots showing tickets selling for low prices. One post read: “You can pay $25 to see Jay Z in LA at SoFi tonight.”

Jay-Z tied the chatter to technology. “You gotta question everything,” and “It’s called artificial intelligence because it’s been looking at you guys. It’s been looking at us.”

The crowd had plenty to feel. Night one featured Blue Ivy Carter, Scarface, DJ Khaled, and John Legend, while night two brought out Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre for a five-song medley. Too $hort joined the West Coast set and that Beyoncé was among those in attendance.
