T.I. is putting his money where his mouth has been for years. The Grammy-winning rapper, actor, entrepreneur, and investor has announced an investment in pocstock, a media and AI-data company operating at the intersection of culture, content, and artificial intelligence.
It’s a natural pairing: Harris has spent much of his career pushing for creators to control their own intellectual property, and pocstock has built its entire business model around that same principle, ensuring that the people whose culture fuels AI systems actually get a stake in the value that culture creates.
pocstock exists because of a problem the AI industry has been slow to confront. As machine learning models get trained on massive troves of images, video, and cultural content, questions about consent, licensing, representation, and compensation have piled up faster than the industry has answered them.
Much of that content comes from communities of color, often without their knowledge, credit, or a cut of the profits. pocstock positions itself as a corrective, supplying brands and tech companies with rights-cleared, culturally informed content and data while giving creators real agency over how their work and their culture get used, and a seat at the table when value gets created from it.
Steve Jones, pocstock’s co-founder and CEO, framed the investment as part of a bigger mission to reshape who gets to build the AI industry’s foundation.
“Our goal is to help build a more responsible and representative data layer for AI while bringing creator communities along as the technology evolves,” Jones said in a press release. “We want people of color participating as producers, owners and economic contributors — not simply consumers.”
For Jones, success means more than a healthy balance sheet; it means opening pathways for creators and equipping young people worldwide with the skills to develop, protect, and profit from their own work. “If AI is going to accurately represent us,” he added, “it should learn about us directly from us.”
Harris echoed that same urgency around authorship and authenticity. “Authenticity cannot be faked, and our stories cannot be told properly without us in the driver’s seat,” he said, praising pocstock’s approach to preserving the positive dimensions of Black culture as the technology around it evolves. “I am incredibly proud to support a team that is purposefully changing the visual landscape and showing the world exactly who we are.”
Harris’ role in the company is strictly that of an investor, and financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
