The world of Dexter is expanding, and the franchise is bringing in some serious heavyweight talent for its next chapter. Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson are officially joining the second season of Dexter: Resurrection in series regular roles.

The duo will be playing a formidable father-daughter pair that is sure to shake things up in the police force. Woodbine will step into the shoes of “Capt. Mixon,” who is described as a bulldog of a homicide captain. Playing opposite him is Johnson as his daughter, “Fiona Mixon.”

Fiona is a training officer in the Homicide unit who carries the “nepo-baby” label in the police world. She will also be introduced as a new love interest for Dexter’s son, Harrison (played by Jack Alcott).

Paramount+ recently revealed several other heavy-hitting additions to the roster, including Brian Cox, who is joining the season to play a character chillingly named “The New York Ripper.” Additionally, Dan Stevens will take on the role of “The Five Borough Killer,” while Uma Thurman is officially set to reprise her role as Charley.

Woodbine, a Harlem native, has built a highly versatile career across all genres since his breakout lead role in Strapped at age 19. His impressive film credits include Crooklyn, Ray, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Queen & Slim, and he previously earned an Emmy nomination for his stellar television work on Fargo.

Johnson comes to the series fresh off a multi-season run on Mayor of Kingstown. Her impressive television background also includes appearances on Fear the Walking Dead, Law & Order: Organized Crime, The Handmaid’s Tale, and an upcoming recurring role in Sugar. She also holds a BA in Theater and has led stage productions like A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Detroit ’67.

With Emmy-nominated showrunner Clyde Phillips at the helm and Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall returning as the titular Dexter Morgan.
