For frequent moviegoers, the AMC Stubs A-List has long been considered one of the best deals in entertainment. But if you are a subscriber, you can expect a slight bump in your monthly bill this summer. AMC recently sent out an email to its members announcing a modest price increase for the popular subscription service.
Here is a breakdown of what the update means for your moviegoing routine.
Starting on your first billing date on or after July 15, the monthly fee for AMC Stubs A-List will increase by $2, bringing the new total to $29.99 per month.
According to the theater chain, the price adjustment comes as a result of rising operational costs, with AMC noting that they have held off on raising A-List subscription fees for over a year.
Despite the price hike, AMC was quick to reassure members that the core perks of the A-List program are not going anywhere. Subscribers will still have access to the exact same benefits they enjoy today.
These ongoing perks include:
- Up to 4 movies every week in any format, including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, PRIME, XL, and Laser.
- Free online ticket reservations with completely waived ticketing fees.
- Priority lane access at both the box office and concession stands.
- Free size upgrades on popcorn and fountain drinks.
- Stubs reward points, allowing you to earn a $5 reward for every $50 spent.
Even at $29.99, AMC argues that the membership remains a stellar bargain, easily paying for itself if you see just one or two premium-format movies a month. For film buffs who frequent the theater, the math still heavily favors keeping the subscription active.
However, if you feel the price increase is a dealbreaker, AMC noted that members can readily opt out and cancel their subscriptions anytime through the “My AMC Account” section on their website.
