Content Creator Obio Jones Reveals Cancer Diagnosis and Urges Men to “Go Check It Off”

Influencer Obio Jones, known for his online presence, shared a somber yet hopeful update with his followers this week: he has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.

In a candid video posted to social media, Jones opened up about the discovery, his delay in seeking medical attention, and the importance of men prioritizing their health.

Jones revealed that the first signs of trouble appeared during a trip to Disneyland last summer.

“I noticed my testicles felt really, really heavy. Like… A feeling I just never felt before,” Jones shared in the video. Despite the discomfort, he pushed through the pain to avoid ruining the mood. “I’m just going to keep going. Keep moving because, you know, again, who wants to be the Debbie Downer at Disneyland?”

He admitted that his reluctance to seek help stemmed from a personal discomfort with needing assistance. “I hate being a burden. I hate when I’m the person who needs any sort of assistance,” he said.

It wasn’t until Christmas Eve, months after the initial symptoms, that Jones finally went to the doctor. He expected a minor diagnosis, perhaps related to stress. Instead, he was sent to a specialist for an ultrasound.

“The ultrasound came back and I had multiple masses on my testicle. And they conclude that I had testicular cancer,” Jones explained.

The news arrived just days after his 33rd birthday. While a shock, Jones noted that the disease wasn’t entirely foreign to him. “A lot of my family members had cancer, so it wasn’t foreign to me,” he said.

Jones is using his platform to ensure other men don’t make the same mistake of waiting. “Come on, especially my men in here. Like, come on, we got to go to the doctor, man. We got to go a little quicker than this,” he urged. “If something feels off, don’t just write it off. Go check it off?”

Despite the heavy news, Jones remains optimistic. He noted that testicular cancer has a “high survival rate” and is “highly treatable.” He reassured his followers that he is in good spirits as he prepares for surgery.

“I am fine. I promise. I’m okay. My spirits are okay. My energy is okay. I feel fine,” he said. “I am legitimately expecting this to be something that is… Super in the rear view in a month.”

This health update comes shortly after a joyous milestone for Jones. In November, The Upshaws star Jermelle Simon revealed that he and Jones had privately tied the knot, celebrating their union away from the public eye.

We are praying for Obio’s speedy recovery.
