Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss has revealed he is battling cancer.

In an emotional Instagram Live on Friday, Moss shared that he recently underwent surgery to remove cancer from the bile duct located between his pancreas and liver.

Despite the challenges, Moss called himself a “cancer survivor” and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support he’s received, crediting his “prayer warriors” for their encouragement.

Moss detailed his health journey, explaining that he first noticed symptoms around Thanksgiving when he experienced urine discoloration. This led to a procedure to insert a stent in his liver and, more recently, a six-hour surgery to remove the cancerous growth. He shared that he will soon begin chemotherapy and radiation therapy as part of his treatment plan.

Moss had taken a step back from his ESPN analyst duties earlier this month to focus on his health, leaving fans and colleagues in speculation until his announcement.

The news comes just days after Fitzgerald Sr., the father of former Cardinals star Larry Fitzgerald Jr., announced the 66th National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Ceremony in Las Vegas. He stated, “Vikings HOF Randy Moss has liver cancer. Let’s show the power of prayer and pull Moss through this. I love you, Randy,” in a message shared on X.

Moss’s son, Thaddeus, a former LSU star and NFL tight end, criticized Fitzgerald Sr. for making “private matters public.”

While addressing his personal health battle, Moss also used his platform to reiterate the importance of compassion and kindness in public discourse.
