Kansas City Chiefs running back, Jamaal Charles just can’t catch a break.
The former first-team All-Pro was placed on injured reserved with a knee injury per ESPN’s Field Yates.
Charles is expected to be out at least eight weeks.
After sitting out during Sunday’s game due to knee swelling, he visited an orthopedic surgeon where it was determined he would need a second knee surgery.
The 29-year old missed 11 games last season and the first three games of this season, after he tore his ACL in his right knee against the Chicago Bears in 2015.
Charles, who once led the NFL in rushing touchdowns, has 40 yards on 12 carries, with 14 receiving yards and one touchdown in three games this season.
The Chiefs looking to fill Charles’ position, worked out running back Trent Richardson on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter.
Richardson, the former no. 3 overall pick in the 2012 draft, was waived from the Baltimore Ravens in August.
In his four NFL seasons, Richardson has played in 46 games making 37 starts, rushing for 2,032 yard with 17 rushing TDs and two receiving TDs.
