One of the Kings of Comedy is coming out with a biopic.

Steve Harvey will be releasing a biopic about himself, focusing on a “transformative 72-hour period that set his career on a trajectory toward massive success.”
The biopic, called Seventy-Two, highlights the critical 72 hours leading up to Steve Harvey’s breakout performance at the Apollo Theater in Harlem in August 1993. The project will detail how those moments propelled him to become one of today’s most renowned comedians.
As of right now, no writer has been assigned to the film. But it will be produced by Objectively Good Media.
“I’ve been reluctant to make a movie about my life for years until I read the pitch for Seventy-Two,” said the Family Feud host. “It focuses on one of the most difficult moments in my journey and career and shows the world that hope is never truly lost. Wait until you see what we do with this.”
Fans will see the hardships yet strength that Harvey endured to get to his big break. To pursue a career in Hollywood, the former salesman left his job when he was just 26. But for Harvey, it was a struggle. When he reached 36, self-doubt set in. But 72 hours later, the show will highlight the path that directly put him in a position where he needed to be to finally taste success.
The production company, Objectively Good Media, strategized the project, bringing it to Harvey’s East 112, which he runs with Thabiti Stephens, who is the chief strategy officer of Steve Harvey Global, according to Black Enterprise.
OGM’s Mohamed Kheir lauded the project.
“Securing the rights to tell this story has been an incredible honor. Steve Harvey’s ability to turn his trials into triumphs is inspiring, and Seventy-Two will showcase the resilience and determination that defined those pivotal days. We look forward to sharing this powerful narrative with audiences worldwide.”
Harvey has a lauded career as an actor, stand-up performer, host, and author, which earned him seven Daytime Emmy Awards, a BET humanitarian award and fourteen NAACP Image Awards among other accolades.
