Zion Set To Return Versus Spurs

Zion Williamson will make his return on January 22 versus the Spurs, according to ESPN’s Andrew Lopez.

New Orleans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin Wednesday said the team anticipates his return to be versus the Spurs next Wednesday.

“The process has been one that has been really, really good,” Griffin said. “We’ve learned a lot about him. We’re getting to the point where we think he is as ready as he thinks he is. We’re moving in the right direction.”

Williamson, who was drafted No. 1 overall by the Pelicans in the 2019 draft, injured his knee while blowing out his Nike sneaker last season versus UNC as a Duke Blue Devil, and this year in the NBA Summer League, Williamson suffered a knee-to-knee hit versus RJ Barrett and the New York Knicks.

Williamson’s return will be highly receptive to NBA followers. The high-flying dunker is the most exciting player to enter the draft since LeBron James. And his production at Duke (22.6 points and 8.9 rebounds) has validated that he is well worth the price of admission.
