R&B Singer Avant will be Featured on TV One’s Award-Winning Series “UNSUNG”

Through first-hand accounts, interviews with family and friends, and archival footage, each episode of TV One’s signature series Unsung sheds much-deserved light on some of the most influential and talented R&B, soul, funk, hip-hop, disco, and gospel artists of the last 30 years.

This Sunday, Unsung uncovers the personal triumphs and struggles of R&B Avant. Hailed as the “new voice of ghetto soul” Avant debuted in 1998 with his single “Separated” that debuted at number 17 on the Billboard charts. The single set the stage for the May 2000 release of his debut album, My Thoughts. Avant later released 8 successful albums. A singer and songwriter who idolizes R. Kelly, Avant became known as the new voice of ghetto soul from his tracks, “My First Love feat. Keke Wyatt” and “Read Your Mind. More recently, Avant is gearing up to “save R&B” by crafting his next studio album. The singer believes the game has changed since his grand entrance. “When I was coming up, there was a direct connection with the fanbase. Now it seems like it’s all about the clout and money,” Avant says. In addition to releasing an album this year, he’s preparing to hit the road.
