Phoenix Suns to Host Games in Mexico City

The Phoenix Suns will host games in Mexico for the upcoming 2016-2017 campaign.

The coming NBA season will have the Suns host a few games in Mexico City in January, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.

This is a historic announcement as the Phoenix Suns—designated as the home team—will compete in mid-January in Mexico City Arena against two Texas teams: the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs.

Adam Silver is continuing in the shadow of David Stern, who really emphasized globalization for the NBA amid his 30-year commissioning career.

The Boston Celtics and the Sacramento Kings game last year in December marked the 22nd overall game in Mexico, and this is a record for the NBA for any country outside Canada or the United States.

NBA enthusiasts will know the NBA schedule for next season in the coming weeks, or in early August.
