What is your background?

I am a serial entrepreneur. When I got out the Marine Corps at 25, I started my record company and was in the music industry till I started my courier business which was the inspiration for the Day runner platform.

What is the Day Runner App?

Day Runner App is a hybrid of FedEx and Uber. It gives corporate and direct consumers the ability to ship items in real time without having to wait excessive time for an item pick up. Simply launch the customer app and select the vehicle type you need and find the closest shipping professional within minutes.

Where did the inspiration for Day Runner App come from?

I worked as an independent contractor for a company here in Charlotte and had about $500,000 in routed work annually. They felt I was becoming too big and was a threat so they started taking my routes from me, one by one and I had to do something before I was stuck with eight vehicles and no work. So, I started the Day Runner App to avoid being back in a situation.

What were some of the challenges that you found when starting your company?

The most challenging part for me was the access to capital. I had to sell my house and clean out my retirement to make this app a reality.

What advice would you offer entrepreneurs?

My advice would be to start on your dreams. Even if you don’t have it figured out completely. The lesson you will learn along the way will give you the skills you need to be a better business person. Don’t let fear of failure stop you from living your best life.
