Indiana Pacers Announce New Airline Partnership

One airline has partnered with the Indiana Pacers.

According to NBA.com, at a Pacers press conference today at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Southwest Airlines Company, along with the Pacers, announced their new partnership that will draw exceptional events to Central Indiana. This includes giving away 50,000 Rapid Rewards Points, celebrating the Pacers’ 50th season, as well as player appearances and other spectacular giveaways.

“This is an exciting partnership highlighting passion points that make Indianapolis a great place to live, work, and play,” said Katherine Findlay, Southwest’s Vice President of Internal Audit who also is Southwest’s executive ambassador to Indianapolis. “We look forward to joining the Pacers and their fans to showcase our new destinations, low fares, and the Customer-friendly policies that make Southwest Airlines a great choice for business and leisure travel.”

“It’s very fitting that as we begin a season-long celebration of 50 years of Pacers basketball and history with Opening Night this evening, we gather today to begin a new era with our friends from Southwest Airlines,” said Rick Fuson, President of Pacers Sports & Entertainment. “This is a remarkable day in so many ways, and we are so proud to associate our organization with this great airline.

Southwest presented a new video of Pacers mascot, Boomer, arriving into Indianapolis’ International Airport to tip-off the new partnership. But the video also highlighted close to 200 local-based Southwest employees.

Since Southwest is the official airline for the Pacers, it will have a major branding emphasis at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, which will include in-arena advertisements as well as digital broadcast features. The airline, though, also partners with Fox Sports Indiana amid broadcasts of Pacer games.

Although the partnership with the team is fresh, Southwest started service to Indianapolis more than a quarter century ago, offering close to 40 daily nonstop flights to 17 destinations; those destinations include Washington Reagan, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago Midway and Dallas Love Field.

Southwest Airlines is the nation’s largest airline pertaining to originating domestic passengers boarded.
