George Floyd Petition Reaches 10 Million Signatures

On June 1, Change.org acquired 10 million signatures from worldwide supporters on behalf of George Floyd. The "Justice for George Floyd" campaign was created by the 15-year old petition starter Kellen S., Nick Allardice (Change.org's Chief Product Officer) and Bec Wilson (Change.org's Chief Global Officer). The petition is the most massive to date on Change.org and has garnered millions of supporters who are taking a stand against racial injustice.

Change.org is launching an advertising campaign that will be paid for by petition signers to call District Attorney Mike Freeman and lawmakers to accountability in handling the arrest of the officers involved in the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd. The ad campaign supports the vision of Kellen S., who was personally compelled to seek justice for Floyd.

Kellen's petition will be advertised on 118 digital billboards in Minneapolis, San Francisco, and New York. Alongside the billboards Change. org will also present the 10 million signatures to DA Mike Freeman and provide updates on new signatures. Apart from the George Floyd petition, there is a surge in the growing support of petitions for Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and Tony McDade.
