From Fatherless to Fatherhood: Omar Epps Opens up in His New Book

Omar Epps is not only an actor with more than 30 years in the entertainment industry, he has added author to his work. You may recognize Omar from popular roles in, Love in Basketball, Juice, The Wood, and Higher Learning.  Epps has taken the approach to inspire with this new memoir, From Fatherless to Fatherhood. He’s discussing the importance of fatherhood by way of his journey from humble beginnings in Brooklyn to the high life of Hollywood. It’s a story about childhood, manhood, and parenting.

He talks about his own experience of growing up without his biological father around, then later becoming a dad himself to his three children. Omar sheds light on how the power of choice and the decisions that dads make do have a long-lasting effect on their children. There’s too many men abandoning their responsibilities as fathers.  Omar is not sparing any intimate details, it’s emotional, unapologetic, and his truth.

“I wrote this book so that my personal story can be an inspiration to others and spark an engaged societal conversation about issues related to fatherhood,” says Epps. “I was able to break the cycle of fatherlessness in my own family, and I’m an advocate for other men to make this important change as well.”

In addition to recently releasing this important body of work, Epps is currently filming Season 3 of the television series, Shooter, which premieres on June 21st on USA Network.  He is a dedicated husband, for over a decade, and family man.
