Ford Drive Program Featuring the New 2018 Ford Expedition and Ford Mustang

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend Ford‘s exclusive media Drive Program at Ford Headquarters where they introduced the new 2018 Ford Expedition and 2018 Ford Mustang. The program was comprised of speaking with engineers and designers who worked on the new vehicles, the ability to test out all the new features (there were a lot), and the chance to drive both the new Mustang and Expedition on the streets of Detroit. When the program ended, I was able to speak with Jennifer Edwards, Ford’s Multicultural Communications Manager, where she spoke about the Drive program, diversity and the new 2018 Ford Expedition and Ford Mustang

What strides have Ford made to be inclusive in the multicultural arena?

Ford has made great strides to be inclusive of the multicultural arena including supporting STEM/STEAM initiatives, such as the Tech Sassy Girlz conference, our HBCU partners through our #Drive2Greatness Program, and ensuring that people of color are included and reflected in empowering ways in our advertising and relationships.

Why is it important for Ford to speak to the African-American consumer?

It is important for Ford to speak to the African American consumer, because like every other consumer, they are important and valued to us. That said, African Americans serve a unique role of being cultural influencers and creators, and so it’s also critical for us to make sure that their voices are heard and that we build a meaningful relationship with them and their communities.

While at the Ford Drive Program, we were introduced to the 2018 Ford Expedition and 2018 Ford Mustang. Can you give me your most important value of each of the vehicles?

The 2018 Expedition and 2018 Mustang are two of our exciting vehicles to watch for. What’s super cool about the 2018 Expedition is that this is the first major redesign in 20 years, meaning more space in the third row, more cargo space in the back, a beautiful, sleek interior, with the latest innovations we have to offer, such as Wi-Fi and other technology features. It’s a powerful vehicle and will command attention and respect on the roads! Likewise, the 2018 Mustang, which is stunning, sleek and an exhilarating ride, also showcases our style and innovation, while striving to give our Mustang owners a vehicle as unique and empowered as they are. We want our drivers to love their vehicles, so that they can go further in achieving their goals and dreams, which is of great value and importance, in and of itself!

What can we look forward to from Ford?

I think our consumers can continue to look forward to Ford listening to their ideas and voices, while designing stylish and reliable vehicles that help them achieve their goals and compliment their personalities. We also look forward to continuing to build a relationship with our consumers and supporting the things that matter most to them.
