Dez Bryant Finds a Home in New Orleans

Veteran free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant signs with the New Orleans Saints. Just one day after Dez Bryant’s workout with the Saints, they sign him to a 1-year contract.  The wide receiver made it official by going to twitter where he retweeted the post by Ian Rapoport with the hashtag #ThrowuptheX. Bryant hasn’t played a game in 311 days, but fans will soon see number 88 back on the field again.

Dez Bryant was released by the Dallas Cowboys in April due to his productivity steadily decreasing in back to back seasons. The Cowboys have continued to struggle without him falling to 3-5 after their Monday night football lost 28-14 to the Titans. Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was asked about the news when it broke out. “Dez is a great player,” Garrett said, “Really happy for him and that opportunity. I know he’ll help their team.”

Entering his 9th season at the age of 30, Bryant looks to add to an offense that is already clicking on all cylinders. The New Orleans Saints recently handed the Los Angles Rams their first loss of the season proving to be one of the Super Bowl contenders this year. The Saints offense is currently the perfect situation for Dez Bryant; he will have a future hall of famer at QB and a system where he can fit in with their play style. Earlier this season the Saints placed Ted Ginn Jr. on IR 3 weeks ago who was vital in their offense and picking up Dez is the right answer. The Saints don’t need Dez to be the elite receiver he once was, but to get to his spot on the field and have Drew Brees find him.  Having Dez in the Saints locker room will be great for their team because of his passion for the game. The Saints coaches are hoping his passion would rub off on their young receivers and the entire team. Bryant hasn’t been in a situation so close to perfection until now where he won’t be required to do much but also have a strong chance of finally getting to the Super Bowl.

Dez Bryant was rumored to be signing with the Ravens during the offseason and the Browns during training camp but these teams and Bryant didn’t see eye to eye in the end. Off course, Bryant never wanted to leave the Dallas Cowboys but being part of their dysfunctionality got him kicked out the town in Dallas. On Thursday, November 29th the Saints visit the Cowboys and AT&T stadium a game where Dez Bryant looks to make a huge impact.
