Carmelo Anthony Says Goodbye

There was always going to be a day that Carmelo Anthony left the shadow of MSG and the Empire state. Most fans thought that day would have come at the end of the contract he signed with the Knicks all those seasons ago. Carmelo loved New York and New York loved him. He was proud to be a Knick and never wanted to be anything else.

After getting traded on Saturday to the Oklahoma City, New Yorkers gave their support and well wishes to the multiple time all-star. The package the Knicks got back wasn’t much for fans to get excited about but the fans did receive one thing from Melo on his way out. Anthony penned a goodbye letter to New York that is worth the read.

The following is an excerpt from that goodbye letter,

New York equipped me to make it in any other place in the world.  It taught me how to Be Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable.  Saying Goodbye is the hardest thing to do.  I never thought I would, especially to you.  No one will ever take your place. It’s hard to find someone like you, so know you will always be missed. You helped me laugh. You dried my tears.  Because of you, I have no fears.  You came into my life and I was blessed.  It’s time to raise my hand and say goodbye.  It’s not the end, because like I’ve always said, NYC ‘til the end.
