A Virtual Reality Look at Drunk Driving

We make more than 30,000 decisions a day, and just one wrong one can be disastrous and impact innocent lives.

With the holiday season upon us and the potential for drunk driving incidents at its peak, Diageo and its Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky brand are introducing “Decisions,” a first-of-its-kind virtual reality experience that puts you in the passenger seat of a drunk driving crash, with a 360-degree perspective on the decisions that lead to the collision and the harrowing aftermath.

With the purpose of showing the repercussions of making the decision to get behind the wheel after a night of excessive drinking, the VR experience follows the journeys of three different vehicles and their passengers. The individual stories – all unrelated at the outset – unfold as the viewer discovers the different motivations that led to each group’s night out, followed by the collision and resulting fallout. This is Diageo’s first venture involving virtual reality, and should this initiative prove as successful and impactful as hoped, the company plans to develop additional VR experiences that illustrate the importance of responsible drinking in different scenarios. A driver can make one silly decision to drive while intoxicated that can leave not only him looking for a criminal lawyer that can help him keep his license but also become a big impact on someone else’s life through their irresponsible actions. If you live in Arizona, make sure you have the right criminal & dui defense if you’re in this situation or something similar because recently they have been cracking down on DUI and DWI offences.

Consumers of legal drinking age can access “Decisions” through Facebook 360, YouTube 360 and NYT VR. It is also compatible with all VR headsets, including Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, and Google Daydream.
