Reasonable Doubt’s Kyle Bary Steps Into His Musical Era With New EP, ‘Origins’
Fans of Hulu’s hit legal drama Reasonable Doubt know Kyle Bary best as the charismatic and complex Ozzie Edwards. But acting is far from his only creative outlet. Bary is back in the spotlight with the release of his latest EP, Origins, which dropped on April 3.
The project features three new tracks: Coffee & Tea, FILF, and Is it Real“. Taking to Instagram to celebrate the drop, Bary shared with his followers: “‘COFFEE & TEA’ out now 🎵 The first song on ORIGINS: The EP. Streaming everywhere now 🫂 tap in ❤️.”
In our cover story interview back in October, Bary opened up about how long he has been cultivating his sound behind the scenes. “Music has always been a huge part of my life,” Bary explained. “I started with the alto sax in fourth grade. Then we got a drum set. And then in ninth grade, I took a year of piano lessons.”
While grinding through his acting career in his twenties, Bary kept his musical talents largely behind closed doors. “I spent a lot of my 20s while I was auditioning, while I was doing plays, just in my room playing my piano and writing songs,” he shared. Spending hours studying music theory and chords on YouTube, he looks back on that time as a crucial period for his growth: “I feel like my 20s were a… an incubator for my musicianship.”
The turning point came when a personal deadline approached. “I promised myself that when I turned 30, I would have music out in the world,” Bary revealed. When the milestone arrived and the music wasn’t out, the disappointment was a catalyst for him to get serious.
“Nothing hurts more than breaking a promise to yourself,” he said. Motivated by that realization, Bary finally created and released his first real music project, a track and music video called Relationship.
Today, Bary’s creative process remains highly collaborative and organic. “So many of the songs that I write and have come together have come from a Sunday jam,” he shared. “Just with the guitar and a few friends spinning around ideas.”
Origins is now streaming everywhere. Check out the EP below.
