If there is one thing Mindy Kaling knows how to do perfectly, it is capturing the messy, chaotic, and incredibly high-stakes reality of figuring out your life. After giving us teenage angst in Never Have I Ever and collegiate hijinks in The Sex Lives of College Girls, the comedy hitmaker is heading to the concrete jungle.
Hulu has officially dropped the first look at Kaling’s highly anticipated new workplace comedy, Not Suitable for Work, and the brilliant Jay Ellis is at the center of the action.
Set in the polished but pressure-cooker neighborhood of Murray Hill in Manhattan, Not Suitable for Work centers on five work-obsessed twenty-somethings. They are all desperately trying to claw their way to professional success while attempting to salvage whatever is left of their personal lives.

Created by Kaling alongside showrunner Charlie Grandy, the series captures that visceral tension of being young in the city, where every office mistake feels fatal and every choice feels completely life-altering.
While the show focuses heavily on the young twenty-somethings trying to make a name for themselves, Ellis steps into the shoes of the exact type of powerhouse they are all trying to become. The Insecure alum stars as Bill Gibson, a charismatic and wildly successful investment banker who commands the room.
Bill is deeply admired for being his firm’s highest-earning managing director, serving as both an inspiration and an intimidating presence in the high-stakes financial world. First-look images released by Hulu show Ellis looking as sharp and influential as ever, perfectly stepping into the role of a Manhattan finance titan.

The core ensemble features Ella Hunt as an intense first-year finance analyst, Avantika as a savvy celebrity stylist assistant, Will Angus as an energetic “finance bro,” Jack Martin as an idealistic New Yorker, and Nicholas Duvernay as an anxious medical student.
If that wasn’t enough, the comedy is packed with a phenomenal recurring guest cast. Fans can expect appearances from Saturday Night Live alum Ego Nwodim, Constance Wu, Victor Garber, Greg Germann, and Harry Richardson.

Not Suitable for Work will premiere exclusively on Hulu (and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers) on Tuesday, June 2. The series will launch with a three-episode drop, followed by two new episodes dropping weekly until the finale on June 23.
