The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films brought the stars out to Los Angeles for the 53rd annual Saturn Awards. Hosted by Joel McHale at the Universal Hilton, the ceremony celebrated the absolute best that 2025 had to offer across genre storytelling in both film and television.

The Saturn Awards are an annual ceremony that honors the year’s best achievements in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and action-adventure storytelling across film and television.

On the television side of the ballot, the Stephen King prequel series IT: Welcome to Derry officially claimed the prize for Best Horror Television Series. The highly anticipated show has successfully managed to bring the deeply unsettling lore of Pennywise to the small screen with terrifying precision.

Show shepherds Andy and Barbara Muschietti were in attendance to celebrate the massive win, cementing their expansion of the beloved Stephen King universe as a standout achievement in episodic horror.

Over in the film categories, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners continued its seemingly unstoppable award season sweep. The record-setting vampire epic took home the award for Best Thriller Film, adding yet another major trophy to its impressive run.

As the critically acclaimed project racks up massive wins across various guilds and ceremonies, its chances for Oscar glory are continuing to heat up.

Beyond the competitive categories, which also saw big wins for massive 2025 hits like Frankenstein and Predator: Badlands, the evening took time to honor the trailblazers of the industry.

Legendary director James Cameron and producer Gale Anne Hurd were presented with the prestigious George Pal Memorial Award, celebrating the 40th anniversary of their sci-fi horror masterpiece, Aliens.

Other wins of the night were Avatar: Fire and Ash for Best Science Fiction Film and The Fantastic Four: First Steps for Best Cinematic Film Adaptation (From Another Medium).
